Steve Urquhart - Sales Manager

Profile-Pic-Steve-UrquhartProud to be originally from the (very) small township of Taneatua in the Bay of Plenty, my family moved to Auckland when I was four. Since then I have enjoyed the pace of life in both. Always one to think laterally, take on the challenge or lend a helping hand, I thrive on finding a solution no matter what the scenario places in front of me. I’m a strong believer that people enjoy dealing with people, and a smile always goes a long way to getting the job done.  
 
After high school I completed my BCom, double majoring in International Business and Management, at the University of Auckland. This has allowed me to apply sound business knowledge through the sales channel in a variety of industries – including the steel, mining, media and construction areas. Notably, I really enjoy the satisfaction of contributing to the NZ economy and seeing it grow via a team effort. After completing further study in 2014 I became an Affiliate of the Institute of Concrete Technology (UK).
 
Taking a year off in 2011 to travel 36 countries gave me taste of what life is, should be and definitely isn’t. Therefore I am passionate about New Zealand and proud to be a Kiwi. “We don’t know how lucky we are!”.
 
With the combined opportunities of Holcim (NZ) Ltd and the HW Richardson Group I am looking forward to building a long career in the concrete industry that motivates me to improve every day and enjoy life as much as possible. 

Charmaine Smith - Sales Manager

Charmaine Smith My journey with Holcim began in August 2007 where I was introduced to the world of concrete as a dispatcher. Within 6 months I progressed to Dispatch Team leader.  In September 2011 the position of Sales Manager arose which I jumped at as a natural progression from dispatch and continue to enjoy.

I am experienced in nearly every aspect of Concrete production and delivery and I do my best to make things the easiest for our customers in a competitive environment.

Outside of Holcim I am happily married and the mother of 3 very active and sociable children, ranging in age from 14 - 23 years old.  Sports such as netball, rowing, touch rugby, rugby league, tag and Muay Thai kickboxing play a great role in our lives, leaving very little time to relax, although we wouldn't have it any other way.

Garth Leckey - Sales Manager

GarthAll but one year of my long working life has been spent in the construction and engineering industries: timber, aluminium, hardware, fastenings, steel, and since 2005, concrete. That was when I joined Holcim in the Auckland Key Account Manager role. I had researched Holcim before joining and was impressed with the local focus, global strength, and ethical values. Once immersed within the committed and focused team, I found to my delight the company full great and supportive personnel, striving to find the best solutions for our customers.

In 2007 I embraced an operations role, managing a couple of country plants at the southern tip of Auckland. This experience gave me a broader understanding of the concrete supply chain, as well as valuable lessons on workplace culture and HSE. Eventually the role expanded into caretaking the three other Holcim Concrete plants in Auckland.

The AML merger in 2013 gave me the opportunity to gain knowledge from a wider base of national experience, with the vast Allied Concrete network a willing and able conduit of concrete wisdom.

In 2015 I got the opportunity to re-enter Holcim’s sales force, bringing the added value of production, distribution and problem-solving knowledge to the role.

My goal is for our customers to trust us to deliver the right product at the right time, every time.

A former “Westie” turned lifestyle-blocker turned South Auckland Suburbanite, I spend my leisure time trekking Auckland’s bush trails with my dogs, dreaming up large at car shows, and looking for the perfect Long Black among Auckland’s many cafes. Otherwise I’m at home, blasting loud music and doing house renovations, or watching classic old movies.
